There are several types of delusions that persist for at least one month. For example, a grandiose delusion involves an inflated sense of self-worth, such as believing that one has far more knowledge or power than could possibly be the case. The erotomanic type describes someone who feels he or she is deeply desired or loved by somebody else, usually of higher status, who has no such feelings. The jealous type imagines that his or her sexual partner is being unfaithful.
